"Yemen" Launches E-Visa System to Modernise Immigration for Foreign Visitors
Yemen has officially introduced an electronic visa (e-Visa) system as part of a broader effort to modernise immigration services and restore consistency in entry procedures for foreign visitors. The move comes after years of disruption caused by conflict, humanitarian crises, and reduced consular operations, which made obtaining a Yemeni visa difficult for travellers, aid workers, and business visitors.
The new e-Visa platform is designed to simplify applications, reduce paperwork, and strengthen border security through a centralised digital process.
Why Yemen Introduced an Electronic Visa System
Historically, Yemen’s visa process relied heavily on manual paperwork, in-person embassy visits, and fragmented approvals. During periods of instability, embassy closures and limited staffing led to delays and uncertainty for legitimate travellers.

Yemen’s electronic visa system was officially launched on June 24, 2025, by the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority (IPNA) in Aden. The initiative was implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in coordination with Yemen’s Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with financial support from the United States.

Yemen E-Visa Requirements
Although requirements vary by visa type, most applicants must submit:

A return or onward travel ticket

Supporting documents such as an invitation letter, employment approval, or proof of financial means

Application Process and Processing Time
Applicants must create an account on the e-Visa portal, complete the online form, and upload required documents digitally. At present, online visa fee payments are not available. Fees are collected in US dollars through the Immigration Department in Aden or via Yemeni embassies and consulates.
Once a complete application is received, processing typically takes three to five working days. Approved e-Visas are issued electronically and sent by email, allowing travellers to present a printed or digital copy upon arrival.
