Zhaoxin Confirms KX-8000 CPUs With 4GHz Speeds, DDR5, and PCIe 5.0 Support


Chinese chipmaker Zhaoxin has officially confirmed its next-generation KX-8000 processors, signaling a major leap in performance and platform capabilities. The upcoming CPUs are designed to compete with AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, while introducing modern standards such as DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0.


From KX-7000 to KX-8000: A Major Generational Leap


Zhaoxin previously launched its KX-7000 CPUs in 2023, based on the x86 Century Avenue architecture and manufactured using a 7nm process. These processors featured up to 8 cores, clock speeds reaching 3.7GHz, 32MB of cache, and support for both DDR4 and DDR5 memory alongside PCIe Gen4.



While benchmarks released in 2024 showed the KX-7000 doubling performance over its predecessor, it still trailed behind AMD Zen 3 and Intel 10th Gen CPUs. The chips eventually appeared in prebuilt systems for the Chinese domestic market.


KX-8000 Brings 4GHz Clocks, DDR5, and PCIe Gen5


According to Zhaoxin’s latest press release, the KaiXian KX-8000 will target high-performance PC and embedded markets. Key highlights include:

Clock speeds up to 4GHz

High-performance integrated graphics

Exclusive DDR5 memory support

PCIe 5.0 connectivity

This modern platform could prove important as the Europe  industry faces an ongoing memory shortage, making efficient DDR5 adoption increasingly critical for future systems.


Targeting Zen 4 Performance and Future PCs


While Zhaoxin has not disclosed core counts or detailed benchmarks, company officials claim the KX-8000 series is designed to match AMD Zen 4-level performance with improved efficiency. If successful, this would be a significant jump over the KX-7000 lineup.

Although no official launch date has been announced, Zhaoxin is aiming for a 2026 debut, with consumer availability likely in 2027. This timeline aligns with expectations for next-generation PCs and even potential gaming laptop  platforms within China’s growing domestic ecosystem.
