Pakistan Targets Moon and Mars in 2026 as 2025 Transforms Space Program

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s space ambitions are reaching a new level as 2025 is being hailed as a historic year, with the country preparing for a Moon mission in 2026, SUPARCO has announced. The development signals a major leap forward in Pakistan’s growing role in global space exploration.

Speaking to a local TV channel, SUPARCO Director Shafaat Ali said 2025 marks a turning point for Pakistan’s space journey. He highlighted rapid progress in space technology, driven by strong cooperation between Pakistan and China. This partnership, he added, reflects deepening ties in science, innovation, and advanced research.

One of the biggest achievements of 2025 will be the launch of three satellites, a first in Pakistan’s history. These launches will strengthen the country’s satellite capabilities and enhance its footprint in space. The momentum is expected to continue next year with additional satellite missions already planned.

Looking ahead, SUPARCO has set bold targets beyond Earth’s orbit. Pakistan aims to expand its ambitions toward the Moon and Mars, showcasing long-term commitment to space exploration. A major highlight will come by the end of 2026, when Pakistan is expected to send its first astronaut to China’s space station, marking a historic milestone in international collaboration.

Alongside exploration, SUPARCO is prioritizing space education. With full government backing, new programs are being introduced to inspire students and develop future-ready skills, ensuring Pakistan’s next generation plays a key role in shaping the future of space science.
