Be Mine - Chapter#20 (part-1)

A few months later:

The night was as silent as it should be, Shahina could clearly hear the clock's ticking sound in the living room. Soon it will be three a.m., and sleep was miles away from her eyes. She got up from the sofa and went to Amma-bi's room. She peeked inside and thanked God that she was sleeping soundly tonight. It has been more than two weeks since Moosa's disappearance, and the Main House has been turned upside down since that day. Everything was disturbed, from morning routine to night sleep. Everyone tried to hide their worries, sometimes by avoiding each other, or sometimes by getting too busy with work. Shahina was one of them, too. Whenever she saw Mahnoor, she wanted to cry her heart out. Finally, when Mahnoor started to open up to everyone, Moosa went missing. Leaving her in a miserable condition, and Amma-bi was no good either. She loved Moosa as her own son, and now that son was lost. She often spent her time in Moosa's study and kept weeping.

When things got out of Shahina's hands and Amma-bi's health started to deteriorate, she talked about her condition to Natasha, and she came rushing to the Main House. Natasha stayed for a few days and invited Kanwal from time to time. It really helped Mahnoor and Amma-bi to regain their composure. But the problem remained as it was. In the morning, everyone might try to be usual, but at the end of the day, the concerns and fear of losing him occupied every mind.

Yawar was nowhere to be found, and so was Ahad, only Owais came to Moosa's office twice and went back without meeting Amma-bi or anyone else. Kanwal told them that Ahad comes home sometimes but doesn't stay long, and the same situation was with Yawar in the Main House. Shahina has heard from a maid that Yawar comes late at night. Therefore, tonight she thought to wait for him.

It was the first time in her life that she was trying to meet Yawar. Not because she was worried about him, but because she wanted to know about Moosa. Whether they were able to find him or not. Furthermore, she needed to ask him to stay at home for a few hours and meet Amma-bi before going.

Shahina sat down on the stairs in a direction from where she could easily see the entrance, and after a long wait, the door opened, and she saw Yawar carefully coming inside. Shahina abruptly stood up and rushed down. The noise generated by her footsteps made Yawar turn his attention towards her, and he stopped in his tracks. At that moment, he realized how he yearned to see her, however, that worn-out look on her face wasn't to his liking. Shahina was the most cherished person in this house, and she should always look carefree, unlike now. A frown formed on his face as anger clouded other emotions.

"What are you doing here?" Yawar asked sternly, and for a moment Shahina forgot to speak. She had been preparing herself for this moment, but his tone vanished her courage.

"Did you have dinner?" She blurted out, receiving a surprised look from Yawar.

On realising what she had said, Shahina lowered her head but didn't leave.

"Are you worried about me?"
