"Did you have dinner?" Shahina blurted out.
"Are you worried about me?" Yawar's lips twitched, but that smile didn't reach his eyes.
Shahina startled upon his question and clenched her phone in her hand.
Yawar's eyes stayed on her hand as he replied, "I had dinner. So, you can go to sleep now."
"And ...tea?"
Yawar stared at her face briefly and nodded his head, "I really need that."
With that, Yawar started walking towards his room, leaving Shahina standing there pondering whether to give him her inquiry right now or while serving the tea, and before she could reach a conclusion, a sound of a closing door came. Means she will be asking him later.
Shahina took a deep breath and went into the kitchen. Talking to him was harder than she expected, especially when he was serious. He was intimidating just as Moosa, though this side of him rarely surfaced, but she kept in mind this image of him, the image of the third in command of the Black Eagles. She noticed that at such times his gaze was always intense, enough for her to be frightened, and because of it, she avoided being in his sight. But today she didn't have a choice other than to confront him.
Shahina thought it might take him some time to freshen up, therefore, she made some sandwiches for him, and by the time she got free, Yawar was already seated on the stool near the kitchen counter. Today, he silently sat there and used his phone, unlike any other day when he pleased to irritate her. Shahina glanced at him for a brief moment. His hair was still wet, perhaps he didn't bother to dry it after the bath. Wearing a sand colour fitted t-shirt and black trousers, he seems a bit better than the time he came home. But his black eyes, which always have a glint of mischief, were tired as if he didn't sleep properly.
Shahina silently served the sandwiches and the tea, on which she received an acknowledging gaze from him.
"Here, take a seat." Yawar pushed a stool towards her.
"... I am fine." Shahina said, looking at the stool which was still quite close to him, and she was definitely not sitting there.
"Just sit down." Yawar ordered, and she pulled the stool to her and sat.
"I wouldn't eat you if you sat near me." He said, tilting towards her, but she didn't squirm, knowing that she was out of his reach.
"... Any news about Moosa Bhai?" Asked Shahina before he could make this conversation awkward.
Yawar stared at her before turning his attention to the sandwiches and said, "Not yet."
Shahina's heart dropped hearing his dejected voice. Her emotions were clearly visible on her face, and Yawar noticed it, but he couldn't do anything about it.
"If that was all you wanted to discuss, then you could've called me... You have my number, right?"
Shahina nodded in response while thinking, 'I would never call you.'
"Now go to sleep, I'll wash the dishes."
"Are you going back right now?"
Yawar was about to take a sip from the tea, but his hand stopped in mid-air upon hearing Shahina's question.
"No, after an hour or so." He answered, recovering from the shock he received from her, "Why?"
"... Could you stay a bit longer and meet Amma-bi before leaving?"
"Is this a request from you or Amma-bi?"
"Amma-bi didn't know about your arrival."
"Means it's a request from you?"
Yawar's question caught her off guard, and she started to stutter. "... No... I ... Actually."
Yawar let out a low chuckle and said, "If you promise me to make my breakfast and serve it to me, then I'll stay."
"I asked for Amma-bi's sake." Shahina said, trying to hide her anger.
"So you can't make my breakfast for Amma-bi's sake?"
Taking a deep breath, Shahina said,"... Okay." And got up.
There was no need for her to stay here any longer. Yawar also didn't stop her, it was late, and she needed sleep.
