You Will Always be Mine - Chapter#20.2

"I don't understand you. You have already talked to Mahnoor, so why do you keep asking this question?"

"I just want to know."

"Know what?"

"Of where you met her."

"I obviously didn't go to her house."

"That's not what I meant." Kanwal sat up.

"Then what do you mean?"

"She is not in danger, is she?" Kanwal asked, inching toward him.

Ahad was taken aback by the question asked, "You have inquired something similar before. What is going on in your mind?" He narrowed his eyes at her.

"I... had a dream about her life being in danger." Kanwal didn't tell him the whole dream.

"What sort of danger? "

"I saw... someone killing her." Kanwal murmured. Yet again, avoid bringing up the killer's name.

Ahad sighed and put his laptop on the other side, "There is no danger to her life, I assure you of her safety." He said, leaning to her face.

"From your people too?"

"Especially from my people." Ahad slowly tugged a strand of hair behind her ear to have a clear view of her face.

"Trust me, will you?" He cupped Kanwal's face with his palm, and this time, she went silent, like always, and lowered her eyes.

"Is this a No?"

"I don't have any reason to say yes..."

Ahad chuckled hearing her answer and leaned closer,  "Your tone of voice changed as soon as you got your answer... What a clever person you are, but teasing your husband like this? Not a very clever wife." Ahad whispered the last part, holding Kanwal's hands.

Kanwal stared back into his eyes, unable to understand how to take his comment or what to say in response.

"Want to hear a bedtime story?" Kanwal frowned on his odd inquiry.

"Don't always wear the same expression, it confuses me." Ahad said and stole a kiss, before putting his head on her lap. On stretching both of his legs to lay comfortably, Ahad heard a light thud and realized that he just kicked his laptop.

"Ary yar!" He exclaimed, but didn't bother to get up and pick the laptop up from the floor.

"So where were we? Oh, right. Want to hear a bedtime story?"

"No." Kanwal said, looking incredulously at Ahad.

"You're one strange wife, who refuses everything from her husband." Kanwal didn't answer him and looked away.

"You know what it usually means?" He sat up, putting his weight on one elbow. "It means that the wife doesn't love her husband or perhaps... loves someone else." Ahad's tone changed while completing the sentence.

Kanwal's head snapped towards him, "Are you accusing me of cheating?"

False accusation was the thing Kanwal hated the most and never tolerated, especially from Ahad. He had once said something like this before, and she loathed it to the core. Kanwal fixed her gaze on him, even after he shook his head in the negative.

"If it were to be true, I would've gotten rid of that person long ago. Besides, I assure you that this Kanwal  (lotus flower) is only bloomed for me." Ahad said, leaning closer to her face and all of a sudden, the anger in Kanwal was replaced by an overwhelming feeling.

She lowered her gaze as heat started rushing in her entire existence. It was always like this, from the moment she realized her feelings for Ahad. His thoughts always gave her this feeling, this was one thing that didn't change in Kanwal, and she had no control over it. No matter how tall she builds the walls around herself, her heart could always hear and feel Ahad and react toward it.

"I think... my Kanwal  (flower) is chameleon or maybe from a very rare kind, which keeps changing colours." Ahad chuckled and grabbed Kanwal's arm when she tried to leave.

"But you know, I like this colour the most. This pinkish blush." Ahad gently touched her cheek with his nose and kissed it. Kanwal's body tensed instantly as Ahad changed his position and his arms caged Kanwal near to him.

"Why do you always stay quiet?" Asked Ahad, intertwining his fingers with hers.

"...Can I sleep? I am tired." Kanwal said, looking at their hands. She got the hint of where Ahad was leading her.

"Can't you stay up a little longer for me?" Ahad slowly pulled Kanwal towards his chest.

"What if I say no?" She asked without making eye contact.

"Are you not going to fulfil the duty of a wife?" Kanwal sensed mockery in Ahad's voice.

"Is it just about my duty?" She breathed out, looking into his eyes.

"Not really." Ahad whispered before capturing her lips and Kanwal closed her eyes.

Is it only a duty...???
